HESAYECV is a groundbreaking feature-length film that brings the story of Jesus Christ to life in a truly unique and meaningful way. As the first feature film ever dubbed into Mvskoke, the language of the Muscogee (Creek) and Seminole nations, it stands as a testament to the power of cultural preservation and faith.

The film chronicles the life of Jesus Christ, drawing viewers into the profound narrative of His teachings, miracles, crucifixion, and resurrection. By presenting this timeless story in Mvskoke, HESAYECV not only honors the linguistic heritage of these tribal nations but also provides an opportunity for Mvskoke speakers and learners to connect with their faith in their own language.

The Movie

Dubbed entirely by native Mvskoke speakers, the film is a monumental effort in language revitalization. With fewer fluent speakers of Mvskoke each year, this project shines as an inspiring reminder of the importance of preserving Indigenous languages and sharing cultural stories with future generations.

The premiere of HESAYECV at the Crystal Theater in Okemah, Oklahoma, added a special layer of significance to its release. Built in 1921, the Crystal Theater is a historic landmark in Okemah and has served as a gathering place for generations. Restored to preserve its original charm, the theater is a beloved venue that celebrates art, history, and culture in the heart of the community. Hosting the debut of HESAYECV further cemented its role as a cultural hub, bringing together community members to celebrate a story of faith and heritage.

The film’s debut at the Crystal Theater was made possible through the dedicated efforts of David Frank. As the Tribal Historic Preservation Officer (THPO) for the Thlopthlocco Tribal Town, David works tirelessly to preserve and protect the tribe’s cultural heritage and historic sites. His commitment to sharing the story of Jesus Christ in Mvskoke underscores the significance of cultural renewal and connection. David can be reached at thpo@tttown.org or by phone at 918-560-6113 for further inquiries.

In a 2022 interview with the Oklahoma Historical Society, David described the Green Corn Ceremony as “an annual renewal of life,” emphasizing its importance in tribal practices. For more information about the Thlopthlocco Tribal Town and their preservation efforts, visit their official website at www.tttown.org.

Whether you are fluent in Mvskoke or new to the language, HESAYECV offers a powerful cinematic experience that deepens faith and fosters appreciation for the rich traditions of the Muscogee (Creek) and Seminole nations.
