Wes Watkins Technology Center Hosts Immersive Hospital Experience for 3rd Grade Students

Wes Watkins Technology Center (WWTC) in Wetumka, OK, recently hosted an immersive hospital experience for 3rd grade students from partner schools, offering them a hands-on introduction to the world of healthcare. This unique event guided students through the different stages of a hospital visit, providing an engaging and educational journey into the medical field.

From the moment they arrived, students experienced a simulated hospital process, including admission, lab work, x-rays, electrocardiograms, pre-op, surgery, post-op, and discharge. At each stage, they interacted with current WWTC students, learning about the critical roles that healthcare professionals play in patient care.

The event brought together multiple WWTC programs, including adult and high school health programs, Teacher Prep/Early Child Care, Administrative Support Specialist, and Digital Media Production. This collaborative effort not only introduced young students to the many career opportunities in healthcare but also allowed WWTC students to apply their skills in a real-world learning environment.

By engaging students at an early age, this initiative helps spark interest in healthcare careers while showcasing how WWTC can be a pathway to achieving those goals. The event was a powerful demonstration of WWTC’s commitment to hands-on learning and career exploration.
