On May 26, 2025, I had the opportunity to interview Linda Scott, a dedicated instructor at Wes Watkins Technology Center (WWTC) in Wetumka, Oklahoma. With a wealth of experience in healthcare education, Ms. Scott plays a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of medical professionals. Her commitment to hands-on, student-centered learning ensures that graduates are well-prepared for the challenges of the healthcare industry.

WWTC’s Health Career options offer comprehensive programs such as Practical Nursing, Surgical Technology, and Multi-Skilled Healthcare Provider. These programs are designed to equip students with the necessary skills and certifications to excel in high-demand medical fields. The  emphasis on real-world experience and industry-relevant training fosters a learning environment where students can thrive.

Established in 1987, WWTC has been a cornerstone of vocational education in the region. Serving portions of Hughes, McIntosh, Okfuskee, and Okmulgee counties, the center collaborates with nine partner schools to provide accessible education. Its recognition as a 31-time recipient of the Gold Star School of Excellence award underscores its commitment to quality education and workforce development.

Wetumka, the home of WWTC, offers a unique blend of small-town charm and community spirit. The town’s supportive atmosphere and close-knit community provide an ideal backdrop for students pursuing their educational goals. With its strategic location near major highways, Wetumka ensures that students have convenient access to educational resources and opportunities.

In conclusion, my interview with Linda Scott highlights the impactful work being done at Wes Watkins Technology Center.
