ABOUT CLAUD D. EVANS D.V.M
Claud Evans is the sole practitioner at the Okfuskee County Veterinary Clinic in Okemah, Ok. He has a BS degree in Agricultural Biochemistry from Oklahoma State University and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Tuskegee Institute (Alabama). He did a veterinary internship at the University of California (Davis). Prior to opening his practice 30 years ago he was in management with Ralston Purina Company’s Veterinary Services, Consumer Products, and Chicken of the Sea divisions.
Claud & his wife, Elayne, began their farming operation with registered Angus cattle and later expanded that operation to include Spanish meat goats with a gene for cashmere. They continue with that farming operation.
Since moving back to Oklahoma, Claud has been involved with local, county, state and national groups that have a vested interest in agriculture and sustaining our natural resources, both renewable and non-renewable. He served 16 years as a member of the Board of Regents for Oklahoma State University and the Agricultural and Mechanical Colleges. He served 8 years on the Southern Region’s Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) Executive Council. For the past 11 years Claud has been a CARET member.
Claud is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Okemah Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture, a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and Lay Leader of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.
He and Elayne have 2 children, 5 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.
